Malcolm, ninth Baron of Lewis, the brother of Torquil, the last chief, whose son, John Mac Torquil, the government disinherited. The island of Lewis, and the other possessions of the family, were confirmed to Malcolm, by a charter from James IV. dated 29th June, 1511. This Malcolm married Christina Urquhart, daughter of Thomas, Baron of Cromarty, by whom he had three sons, Roderick, afterwards Baron of Lewis. Malcolm, to whom his father gave the lands of Rasay, Roun, and half of Gairloch, in vassalage, and who was ancestor of the Macleods of Rasay, known by the name of Siol Vic Gillecallum, or "Sons of Malcolm." Norman, ancestor of the Macleods of Edrachullis. Malcolm, dying about the year 1515, was succeeded by his nephew, John Mac Torquil.

Malcolm received the estates of Lewis in 1511, after the forfeiture of his elder brother. He supported the claims of Sir Donald MacDonald ot the Lordship of the Isles and was excluded form the Royal Pardon of 1515. In 1518 he assisted Sir Donald Gallda MacDonald of Lochalsh and Alexander MacDonald ofIslay in the invasion of Ardnamurchan, where they slaughtered MacIan, his sons and several of his followers at Craig an Airgiod. Malcolm died about 1528 and was interred in the Churchyard of Uie, near Stornoway, where according to Collectanea de Rebus Albinicis "Many of the Lewis Chiefs are interred and particularly Malcolm, son of Roderick MacLeod, Lord of Lewis, who died in the reign of James V. His tomb is still visible and the inscription is entire, with the exception of the date". Malcolm was married to Christina, daughter of Thomas Urquhart of Cromarty, with issue.

Malcolm received a charter of his lands in Lewis in 1511, ]RMS (II) no. 3578.] but, despite this mark of royal favour, in the dark times after Flodden (1513) he came out in 1515 in support of Donald Macdonald's bid for the Lordship of the Isles and was consequently excluded from the royal pardon of that year. ]RSS (I) no. 2579, where his is mistakenl named "Malcolmo Makclane de Lewis".] In 1518 he sided with Donald Gallda Macdonald of Lochalsh and Alexander Macdonald of Islay in their invasion of Ardnamurchan, but there is no record of his presence at the battle of Creag an Airgid (1518).
