!BIOGRAPHY: Sir Robert Douglas of Glenbervie, THE PEERAGE OF SCOTLAND, Edinburgh, 1813, p. 479. VII. Alexander MacKenzie of Kintail, who was presented to James I. when he made an expedition to the north in 1426, and by the King's orders was sent for his education to Perth, near the court. He was instrumental in crushing the rebellion of the Earl of Ross, on which account he obtained from James III. a grant of Strathconnan, Strathgarvie, and other lands belonging to the Earl, in 1477, and he died in 1488. He married, first, Lady Agnes Campbell, sixth daughter of Colin, first Earl of Argyll, by whom he had a son, Sir Kenneth. Secondly, Margaret Macdougal, a daughter of the house of Lorn, by whom he had two sons.
