Was born in 1829, became master of Gonville and Caius College as well as Vice-Chancellor of Cambridge University (1884-1885). He married in 1866, Emily, daughter of Dr. Lamb, Dean of Bristol and Master of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. He died 1903, with issue.
